Kuan Yin a.k.a. Quan Yin on Dragon
This is a very cool statue because there is a small quartz sphere in the dragon's mouth.
Kuan Yin is known in many lands under different names. We have described these on our other pages. She is also known as the patron Bodhisattva of P'u-t'o Shan, protectress of sailors, mistress of the Southern Sea, and patroness of fishermen. As such, she is shown crossing the sea seated or standing on a lotus or with her feet on the head of a sea dragon.
There is an extraordinary picture of Kuan Yin riding a dragon through billowing clouds. You may have seen it. Legend has it that this was a photograph taken by a World War II pilot as he was flying a mission.
Dragons can be good and they can be bad. If they are with Kuan Yin, you can bet the house, they are good.
