Fairly large Buddha with open hands mudra made of bonded marble. We don’t know who came up with mixing marble dust with resin and then pouring it into a cast, but that was pure genius. Imagine what Michelangelo could have done with this process. Statues like this Buddha have the look and feel of marble. Quite beautiful to behold.
The right hand is in the fearlessness mudra. The left hand signifies offering, welcome, charity, giving, compassion and sincerity. This gesture has the arm hanging naturally at the side of the body and the palm facing outward, and the fingers extended.
